The XSR series is a very cool one from YAMAHA and is globally very renowned for the unique feature-set of these bikes. The bikes under this “XSR” name are neo-retro standard from the YAMAHA stable incorporating modern-day features and retro looks. YAMAHA XSR 155 was first launched in Thailand in 2019 with the same engine as the YAMAHA YZF R15 Version 3.0 and MT-15. Hence, it is the Neo-retro standard version of the “R” & “MT”-series DNA and so, the XSR name is justified following the trends of its big-engine cousins. This bike is slotted under the R & MT series for extreme city service in sheer style.

The Elegance of Sport Heritage:

Yamaha’s dedicated motorcycle series, the Yamaha XSR, was the first to be tagged with the Sport Heritage badge. Yamaha calls the “Sport Heritage” a profile that modifies the DNA Retro-Neo. XSR, the modern street scrambler series, is profiled using mechanically advanced machines.
The XSR’s styling and wearing were also influenced by the past. The legacy was carried on to the exterior, even though all modern technology was hidden underneath. The breed is not only modern but also carries the old days’ memories. This is the essence of Sport Heritage, hence Yamaha’s XSR.

Retro-Neo Styles & Styling

The Yamaha XSR155 is the same design and styling as the XSR900 or XSR700. Yamaha XSR and MT Series motorcycles also have the modern mechanicals of Yamaha MT15. This is why the XSR styling and design were copied by this street biker.

The motorcycle carrying a very simple & solid design and styling as the scramblers do. Retro-Neo has old-school-inspired ergonomics, but with modernized touches. The modern gadgets include the ODO, headlamp, and taillamp. These include an integrated DRL, LED lights, and fully digital setups. These are also compact and feature rounded pits that allow for exterior enhancements.

The frame of the delta box is completely naked, and the body panel is simply ignored. The tail is completely naked, with a small tail-lamp as well as registration plate hangers. A low-profile mudguard was added to the front wheel. The engine got a bikini under-bowl and a fatter exhaust profiled boldly matching the rests.

The teardrop fuel tank is a leftover from the old-school scramblers. It holds the ignition pit. It also recalls the simpler days with its single-piece cushioned chair. The YAMAHA XSR 155 is an amazing performance. The wheelbase is 1330mm on which the 134 kg bike stands. The bike is balanced very well for its YAMAHA patented “Deltabox” Frame. The bike has a 10 L fuel that feeds the engine through the Fuel Injection system and is ignited by TCI (Transistor Controlled Ignition) system.

The overall length of YAMAHA XSR 155 is 2000 mm while the width and height are 805 mm and 1080 mm. The ground clearance is 170 mm and the seat height is 810 mm.

Engine & Transmission

YAMAHA XSR 155 possesses a single-cylinder, SOHC, Liquid Cooled, 4 Valve, VVA-equipped engine. This engine’s Power & Torque figures are as follows: 19.3 PS @10000 RPM & 14.7 Nm @ 8500 RPM. This wet-sump lubricated machine is paired with a 6-speed Manual constant mesh transmission with a slipper-clutch. The expected mileage is 35-45 KMPL.

Suspension, Brakes, Wheels

The suspension system of this bike has a set of USD forks up front and a link suspension Swingarm at the rear. The front brake is a 282 mm Disc paired to the 5*2-spoke alloy wheel with 100/80-17 M/C 54S tire. The rear brake is a 220mm Disc attached to the 5*2-spoke alloy wheel that is wrapped in 140/70-17 M/C 66S tire. Both the wheels have a tubeless tire for better performance and to avoid sudden deflation along with Antilock Braking System (ABS).
